Company’s Garden offers free Wi-Fi to visitors From today, the public has access to free Wi-Fi in the Company’s Garden thanks to the City of Cape Town, in conjunction with the Cape Town Partnership, Iziko Museums and Wi-Fi specialists Connected Space. The project is a test case for the provision of further free Wi-Fi services for the public across the CBD, and is just one of the many ways the City is connecting Cape Town. The service providers, Connected Space, has installed signage to alert visitors to the Wi-Fi zone parameters, which includes the Company’s Garden restaurant and the area outside of the aviary. “The Company’s Garden is the green heart of Cape Town’s CBD and we are continually looking to add value to our public spaces for the people who use them,” says the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Special Projects, Alderman Belinda Walker. “Our goal is to make our city a place where everyone has access to information and the benefits that come with it. We are very excited to bring the convenience of free Wi-Fi to a public space and give those who visit the chance to enjoy the breathtaking surroundings and have access online at the same time,” says Alderman Walker. Users are allocated 100MB of data per day. To access the service within the parameters, you will be directed to a URL, where you can log in. If you experience any issues, contact the support line on 072 979 5056. This kind of development goes hand-in-hand with the new tree-labelling project at the Company’s Garden. Historic and ancient trees have received new tree labels throughout the gardens and many will contain a QR code, which smart-phone users can scan to access information about the tree, including interesting facts and titbits.
