Compassionate Exemptions The deadly effects of government compassion… I told you about the little boy whose only hope for life was an experimental drug that he couldn’t get because of FDA rules for what they call “compassionate exemptions.” Well, he’s not the only one. Former Social Security Commissioner Michael Astrue says there are thousands of kids whose only hope is a drug that’s yet to be FDA approved, and whose parents would gladly assume the risk. Some FDA examiners take heroic efforts to win compassionate exemptions for patients, others would rather let people die than bend a rule. SAD ,uh? Astrue is calling on President Obama to order the FDA to reform the system and stop condemning sick children to Death Row. Now, that would be an executive order we could all get behind but I guess saving a life isnt as important then executive over reach now is it?
