Compositions 51-58 The backgrounds of these works have a graduated value scheme moving from dark on the perimeters to light in the center. At the center, I place ancient symbols signifying the primordial concerns of our existence. Life, birth, death , reproduction, care and protection of our children, and religion. The works are Kandinsky-like in their construction acknowledged by the placement of two lances piercing or fending off the dragon of materialism represented by two straight black or red lines and a thick red curved line respectively. The result is a work, which resembles and feels like the cave paintings of our ancestors. By varying the symbols this method provides a platform for wide ranging topics such as ecology (Composition 57) or individual histories (Composition 53).
