Comrade Ojo Horlorunphemmy Babatunde Options for this story nigeriaECHO WROTE; Crisis Between Amosun And Osoba deepens As Ogun APC Prepares For Congress As the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State is preparing to register its members for congress to elect their Party officials at the Ward, Local and state levels, aspirants to various elective positions are starting to pitch tents in Aremo Olusegun Osobawhat an observer termed ‘Political gesticulation’. NigerianEcho’s investigation in Ogun West Senatorial District revealed that some perceived loyalists of Senator Ibikunle Amosun who have been parading themselves as SIA Foundation members are making move to pitch tent against the governor’s “recognised” leaders and their favoured aspirants in the district. Those aspiring in APC for senatorial seat are : Hon Jimoh Ojugbele from Ado-Odo/Otta; Engr Ayo Olubori, serving commissioner for Environment from Abeokuta North/Yewa South, Hon Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, serving member House of Reps (representing Alimosho Fed Constituency in Lagos) from Yewa North and Yewa South; Kolawole Lawal a.k.a. KLM from Yewa South; Senator Iyabo Anisulowo from Yewa South; Senator Kayode Odunsi(currently representing the district) and Bolaji Soleye from Yewa North. In the race for House of Representatives in Ipokia/Yewa South Federal Constituency are; Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade, a.k.a. Triple A who is an SSA to Ogun State Governor from Ipokia; Mukaila Waliu Adeyanju, a lecturer at Tai Solarin University of Education from Ipokia; For Imeko/Afon/Yewa North Federal Constituency are, Bayo Adeyemi who is a Special Adviser to Ogun State Governor; Hon Sanya Akindele, SACOBASS, supervisor in YNLG; Hon F. Abiodun (the trio are from Yewa North). Others are Hon (Prince) Adeluyi Olusola; Hon Waheed Ogundele; Hon Lateef Olorode and Hon Daniel Adejobi, serving Commissioner for Housing in the state, (all from Imeko/Afon Local government). From Ado-Odo/Ota Fed Constituency are: the incumbent, Hon. Tunde Ogunola, a.k.a TOMO and a retired Head of Local Government, Mr Femi Ajayi for House of Reps. Dr. Ajibola Amosu, SSA to Ogun State Governor who was seen as a front line candidate for the House of Representatives recently withdrew from the race. NigerianEcho checks revealed that aspirants are pitching tent in preparation for congress and primaries. For instance in Ado-Odo/Ota Federal constituency, the incumbent Senator and the current member of House of Reps from the Local Government are of Osoba camp, while the retired HOLGA aspiring for House of Reps and Hon Ojugbele who is gunning for Senate ticket are in SIA camp. In Yewa South/Ipokia Fed constituency, the situation is more disturbing. Engr Ayo Olubori in an attempt to have his way has decided to team up with some aggrieved SIA Foundation members who have vowed not to have anything to do with Hon Mufutau Ajibola, Chairman SUBEB believed to be the governors most recognised leader in Yewa and Engr Olayinka Akintonde, a.k.a. TOMMY. In Olubori’s camp are Mukaila Adeyanju (Rep-Ipokia) and one Elder Sangolade (State Assembly -Yewa South). Interestingly, Mukaila Adeyanju, is said to be Aremo Osoba’s candidate being groomed to face governor Amosun’s candidate at the primary. Romance of Engr Olubori with Adeyanju and Elder Sangolade according to findings could be of that proverbial saying that, in politics, ‘the enemy of your enemy is your friend’, Information has it that SUBEB Chairman and Engr Akintonmide are more disposed to supporting Governor Amosun’s protégée, Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade (Triple A) as their preferred candidate for House of Reps and Otunba Babatunde Olaotan who is the LG consultant to the governor for State House of Assembly. Hon Solomon Adeola, Bolaji Oyeleye and Sen. Iyabo Anisulowo are all of SIA camp, Hon Adeola and Oyeleye are said to be courting Triple A in consideration of his, (Adekunle) formidable grass root structure in both LGs. Meanwhile, Otunba Olaotan is believed to be Hon Adeola and Triple A’s favourite for Yewa South House of Assembly ticket. In Yewa North/Imeko-Afon, Deacon Poju Adeyemi who was before now a strong loyalist of Aremo Osoba have now pitched his tent with Senator Amosun’s camp. His influence with that of Chief Fadairo, current Chairman, Housing Corporation may give Senator Amosun the much needed leverage at the forth coming party primaries in the LG. The House of Reps slot for the constituency is however unpredictable. The Speaker’s (Suraju Adekunbi) aspiration to return to the House may give aspirants for House of Reps outside Isokan upper hand over Bayo Adeyemi who incidentally is from the same zone with the Rt. Hon Speaker. Olusola Adeluyi, son of Oba Of Ilara is the only aspirants with links to the Osoba camp. As it is now, Ogun West Senatorial District remain a very hot spot politically. Loyalist to the former civilian governor of the state, Aremo Olusegun Osoba are warming up to challenge the Amosun ‘Boys’. Unlike the 2011 ‘play-offs’ where tickets were handed to the incumbents on a plater of gold, 2015 will be interesting. While the Osoba boys will be coming to the battle-field with deep pockets courtesy of their current political portfolios at the state and federal levels, the Amosun boys are not push-overs either as most of them were successful business/corporate executives before taken up their present appointments. NigerianEcho will keep you updated as events unfold.
