Confession: I have played Candy Crush - though I have been clean for >6 months. The developers of Candy Crush are going to Wall Street to try to sell stock - valuing their company at (wait ... try to guess ... $1 Million, $10 Million?, $100 Million, $1 Billion) all too small - $7.6 Billion dollars. $7,600,000,000. That is more than the GDP of Cuba and Hawaii. Wheres the value? Why so much? Theyd have to make the case, and prove it, that not only can they continue to make blockbuster games that use psychology and gameification to coerce people into spending real money for unreal things - but that they can do it consistently better than other companies. Itd be like a pop band with a few #1 hits basically saying that they would continue to produce #1 hits and that others would not be able to. So is King/Candy Crush the Beatles, Elvis Presley, Madonna, George Strait (for you country folks) of the game market? Lets see who puts down their money to bet that this is so.
