Congratulations Hume City Council for winning the Disability Access and Inclusion Award at last night’s National Awards for Local Government. Hume City Council’s school holiday program for indigenous children with a disability includes mainstream community-based activities as well as culturally-focussed activities. By providing respite and support, the school holiday program has increased involvement by families in their indigenous communities, engage with other children and carers and address important issues affecting the family. Amazing work! Programs like this can also be nominated for a 2014 National Disability Award. Nominations are now open across a range of categories.
