Congratulations to our Emergency Room and CT Departments for achieving a stroke treatment door-to-needle time of less than 20 minutes for the past three months! Two of our RTNs, Caroline Hakata and Phillip Merritt, achieved an eight minute door-to-needle time! The American Stroke Association guideline for stroke patient door-to-needle time is 60 minutes, so we are proud of the speed and accuracy of our team. #PatientCentered A special thank you to the Mobile Fire Rescue for expediting the stroke evaluation process by alerting our Emergency Room about stroke patients before arriving here. According to the Journal of Neurology, on average, early emergency room notification saves about 23 minutes. During an acute stroke, about 1.9 million neurons (brain cells) die every minute.
