Congratulations to the boys and girls track teams for their outstanding performance at yesterday’s Region 8AAA Track and Field Finals. The boys finished 5th in the team standings. Qualifying for next week’s sectionals for the boys were: Rogerick Goss 4th place in the high jump, Moe Walker 3rd place in the long jump, Torace Sturgeon was Region Champion in the shot put and the discus, and Hart’s 4 by 400 meter relay team of DJ Mayfield, Moe Walker, Ben Allen, and Rogerick Goss finished 4th. The girls became Region Runner-ups taking home the 2nd place team trophy. Qualifying for next week’s sectionals for the girls were: Taliyah Mahoney 4th place in the long jump, Jasmine Harper 4th place in the 300 meter hurdles, Erika Rucker 4th place in the 800 meter run, Kelin Leverett 3rd place in the pole vault, Riquanza Stowers 2nd place Region Runner-up in the 100 meter dash, Jolesha Hunter 2nd place Region Runner-up in the shot put, Audrey Honiotes was Region Champion in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs, Hart’s 4 by 400 meter relay team of Taliyah Mahoney, Delisha Jackson, Audrey Honiotes, and Erika Rucker finished 4th, and Hart’s 4 by 100 meter relay team of Taliyah Mahoney, Theresa Wheeler, Delisha Jackson, and Riquanza Stowers were Region Champions. The 2014 AAA Sectionals will be Saturday, April 26th at East Jackson High School in Commerce. The first event starts at 10:30 am. Good luck Hart County!!!
