Congress is on the edge to approve 4,000 more visas for Afghan interpreters who have assisted US in the ongoing war in Afghanistan. Reports suggest that the State Department of America had requested 8,000 visas but congress is considering to approve 4,000. Due to the shortage of the visas the processing of the cases of the Afghan interpreters had slowed down in the embassy of the United States in Kabul but by receiving the going to be approved 4,000 visas the process is expected to expedite again. Since 2007 about 5,000 Afghan interpreters have received the immigrant visas to the US but still there are almost 12, 000 applications pending for visas, In addition, there is a large number of other Afghan interpreters who have not yet qualified for the program but they are also living in a greater risk.
