Congressional subcommittee assignments also made. By Tony Schinella (Patch Staff) January 16, 2015 at 9:31am This week, U.S. Rep. Frank Guinta, R-NH, was appointed to serve on the House Financial Services Subcommittees on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit and Monetary Policy and Trade. In this role, Guinta will serve as a voice for Granite State individuals, families and business owners in an effort to reign in harmful regulations preventing families and businesses from gaining access to capital to create more jobs and attain homeownership; and, also, increase oversight and accountability to bloated financial agencies, such as the CFPB. “Small business supports over 90 percent of the Granite State’s economy. As a member of the Financial Services Committee, I will have the unique opportunity to serve as a direct voice for middle class Granite Staters and small businesses by crafting legislation to reign in harmful regulations that are suffocating business growth, jobs and profits, while acting to increase oversight of powerful financial regulators, like the CFPB.” The House Financial Services Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit oversees all financial regulators, such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC,) and all matters pertaining to consumer credit, access to financial services and the safety and soundness of the banking system. The House Financial Services Subcommittee on Monetary Policy and Trade oversees policies and legislation pertaining to agencies such as the Federal Reserve, the U.S. Mint, World Bank and International Monetary Fund to promote economic stability domestic and internationally.
