Congressman Owens issued the following statement in response to VA Secretary Shinsekis resignation this morning: The situation at the VA must be resolved. Our veterans deserve better than they have been getting from this agency. We need to take steps to ensure the best and most timely care is provided. With so many local hospitals and healthcare facilities having capacity, this alternative needs to be offered so that veterans are not traveling four hours when care is available within minutes. I agree that we need new leadership at the VA but also recognize General Shinseki’s lifetime of service. --Congressman Bill Owens
