Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02), a member of the Ways and Means Committee, issued the following statement after House passage of the Keep the IRS Off Your Health Care Act (H.R. 2009): “Right now, the IRS is helping to implement what its own Taxpayer Advocate called ‘the most extensive social benefit program the IRS has been asked to implement in recent history.’ That same agency was caught unfairly discriminating against innocent Americans because of their political and religious beliefs and wasting millions of taxpayer dollars on lavish conferences and Star Trek spoof videos. I proudly support this legislation because it cuts off funding streams for Obamacare, permanently prevents the implementation of the employer and individual mandates, and blocks the IRS from accessing sensitive personal health care information on millions of Americans.” H.R. 2009 would prohibit the IRS from implementing or enforcing any provision of the Affordable Care Act.
