Connecting Communities to Coverage: Outreach and Enrollment Workshops Join us for the second year of our successful outreach and enrollment workshops, which give stakeholders dedicated to connecting communities to Medicaid and Marketplace coverage an opportunity to receive updates on federal and state laws, learn about improvements to online enrollment processes, and get reccomendations for successful strategies for reaching the remaining uninsured. Please share these workshops widely--anyone involved in outreach and enrollment is welcome! Topics to be covered include: ACA 101 Understanding financial assistance Marketplace and Medicaid applications--Updates and improvements Medicaid Managed Care Renewing private coverage and Medicaid coverage Building health literacy Strategies for reaching the remaining uninsured Becoming a Certified Application Counselor Who should attend? This training is open to any person or organization that has plans to educate community members about or facilitate enrollment into new and existing health coverage opportunities. Participants may include, but are not limited to: In-Person Counselors, Navigators, and Certified Application Counselors; community-based organizations; advocacy groups; health care providers, including school health centers, federally qualified health centers, and health departments; faith groups; business leaders; and others interested in connecting their communities to coverage. Training capacity is limited, so attendance at any one workshop is limited to five representatives per organization. Please note: This training does not meet state or federal certification requirements for In Person-Counselors, Navigators, or Certified Application Counselors and does not replace the online or in-person trainings required by the state and/or federal government. The training may be less useful for those who have completed the two day in-person training, facilitated by UIC and Get Covered Illinois, in 2014. This initiative is a partnership between EverThrive Illinois (Formerly Illinois Maternal and Child Health Coalition), The Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law, the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago, and the American Academy of Pediatrics, Illinois Chapter.
