Connection Group questions It’s been said, “There is a difference between interest and commitment. When you’re interested in doing something, you do it only when circumstances permit. When you’re committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results.” 1) When you were growing up what where some of the things you had interest in and what were some of the things you were committed to? How where they different for you? 2) Was there ever a time that you were so thirsty that you thought you might die if you did not get something to drink or ever so hungry that you thought you were going to die? If so what was going on or what is the story? 3) Have you ever felt that way about God? (Rhetorical question no one is expected to answer allowed) Read Psalm 63:1 4) For David to realize how bad he needed God he had to take account where he was at. David was in a desert. What are some of the things that can keep us from seeing the reality of where we are at in our faith journey? 5) David First acknowledges Gods presence and then he witness that God is my God. This shows that David understands that God is his owner his only hope. What are some of the things man pursues because it will make him happy? (things that give us hope of happiness) Psalm 63:1-8 Based on this scripture how committed is David to God? It seems that the most common thing people judge success on is how they feel about it. For instance “How was church today? I felt God was really present.” Or “I just wasn’t feeling it today it was like something was off!” Or the great comment “I can’t live without attending this program because it makes me feel closer to God” I believe we were created in the image of God and therefore we were created with feelings not necessarily a bad thing. Based on John 4:34 what does Jesus say that sustains Him or nourishes Him or makes Him Happy? Is it possible that we are missing real happiness based on our pursuits or if we are concerned about what we are getting out of a program? If we are going to be committed to God then what are the results we should be measuring?
