Conservation outcomes in protected area management is not an overnight job. The experience of Mount Kitanglad Range Natural Park in Bukidnon, as told by legendary PASu Felix Mirasol, showed that it took almost three decades to realize the true meaning of conservation, especially how the different stakeholders work together to realize a common vision. But at the end of the day, it is the Protected Area Superintend who is the main driver in making things possible. I hope the DENR will invest for PASus in terms of capacity building, professional growth and incentives. And yes, there is a career for PA staff, PASu Mirasol is also PENRO at the same time and three former PA staff in Mt Kanla-on are now CENROs.
