Considerable seismic activity in the midwestern United States has been felt in the southeast Kansas area. The U.S. Geological Survey said an earthquake that measured 3.0 on the Richter scale struck the Parsons area shortly after 7:30 p.m. The epicenter was 7 miles west-northwest of Parsons at a depth of 3.1 miles. No injuries or damages have been reported to area officials. As of 9:15 p.m., Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey has recorded 14 seismic events in Oklahoma and Kansas today.
