Considering My Little Pony teaches kids about tolerance, kindness, respect, helpfulness etc, its very ironic that some people feel the need to hate on us for liking it. Nothing has been directed at me (yet), but Ive read quite a few forum posts and articles online where there is hatred and even outright disgust. The reason so many of us older male fans like the show is for very nostalgic reasons. When we were growing up, there were quite a few shows that were pure and had moral messages and that were genuinely fun to watch (Fraggle Rock, David the Gnome, Captain Planet etc). It basically harkens back to those times. There arent many kids shows nowadays worth watching, so when something like that comes around we latch on to it naturally, regardless of the name/what it looks like/the connotations etc. If its well written, well animated and the dialogue is good enough, of course people like myself will become fans. Its simply a natural progression.
