Construction, SAA strikes adds to woes Workers at South Africa’s largest construction companies and its state-owned airline began strikes today, extending labor disputes beyond gold mines and auto manufacturing. About 90,000 workers in the construction industry downed tools after wage talks with the South African Federation of Civil Engineering Contractors became deadlocked, National Union of Mineworkers spokesman Lesiba Seshoka said by phone.
