(Content note: FEMEN & other activists who internalize white-centered entitlement) Certain Western white-centered 'liberals' and 'feminists' mentality towards people of color activists can be summarized as them saying: 'Let me rescue you, tell you why your way of life is wrong, whilst exploiting capitalistic media profit gain even if it means taking advantage of your resources that had been birthed in culture.' Looking at you, FEMEN. A frequent complaint made by numerous people of color activists is the complaint about the sense of what can be called the 'white entitlement.' It is not something we make up. If we were that 'backward' in comparison to 'your' 'civilized' mentality (due to constant Othering), why is it that we are not fooled that easily by certain tactics? Because thinking things through is apparently hard, but culturally appropriating and taking advantage of pop culture obsessed capitalistic media tactics for it is apparently easy. Just a thought.
