Continuation of Q&A Series / Act of Valor: Question from Michael Sims: Did you know or had you worked with the other SEAL operators from the movie in the actual teams? Were they all bravos from team 3 during your deployment? My Answer: I had worked with a handful of the guys from the movie. Some of them for a long time. Sonny and I were assigned to our first SEAL Team together back in 1999. He was previously EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) and then came to the Teams. We were in BRAVO Platoon at Team FOUR. Chief Dave, Wiemy and I were all running 1st Phase of SEAL training at BUD/S together when the movie first started. Dave and I were always paired up for a Hellweek shift when those weeks came along. So we became close at that phase and working those tough weeks of training. Wiemy was one of the all time great instructors. I had never met Ray, AJ, or Mikey. But all three came with exceptional reputations and that goes a long way in our brotherhood. In fact, it is almost everything. That was one of the criteria that Dave and I held the Banditos to when we both finally said yes. We had to ensure each of the boys was a true “operator” and had been in the fight. Also, that they were highly thought of within the brotherhood. We knew we would take heat either way, but if it was the right guys, then we knew that would be a good antidote for the conversations that would arise. None of my SEAL Team THREE BRAVO boys were in the film, but the crew that formed became a platoon in its own right. I can say with all confidence that those are all true warriors that you see in the film.
