Continued from yesterday . . . And to the angel of the assembly in Smyrna write: These are the words of the First and the Last, Who died and came to life again: I know your affliction and distress and pressing trouble and your poverty—but you are rich! And how you are abused and reviled and slandered by those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Fear nothing that you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is indeed about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested and proved and critically appraised, and for ten days you will have affliction. Be loyally faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life. He who is able to hear, let him listen to and heed what the Spirit says to the assemblies. He who overcomes shall in no way be injured by the second death. Many true believers in Jesus are experiencing this today. Whenever Jesus (all of the Word) speaks of persecution, it is with the reality that it is a blessing. These people of Smyrna have suffered in all ways and are told that more persecution is coming but if they are loyal to the end. . . . . How many of us seek not to experience suffering and persecution when the Lord tells us that it is a blessing? May we develop the relationship with Jesus to stand to the end. To be continued . . .
