Continuing with the theme of telephone poles. This is the first photo Ive seen where the poles run down Brisbane St, as well as up. There are substantial cables running down the pole outside of the Post Office (and presumably underground into the PO. Behind the two school boys in boater hats on the right of the picture are what look like two aboriginal men. The group is standing outside of what I knew as the Library, but you can see the word BANK in relief, is that still there? Above the group of boys on the left, under the awning can be seen a sign Spitting on Footpath Forbidden. I assume they are schoolboys (by their boater hats) but the one on the left appears to be smoking. Despite hat, coat and knickerbockers the middle boy isnt wearing shoes! Final thing to notice, horse manure everywhere. Town must have smelt on a hot day.
