Control and coercion will not change behavior. The more you - TopicsExpress

Control and coercion will not change behavior. The more you rigidly try to force yourself or others, the more you and they will want to run away or fight. Why are we so afraid of the passionate, unconventional and freely independent sides of ourselves? Many times it is because of having been controlled ourselves that within that frustration and loss of self do we look to try and find some small feeling of control around us, and reenact the same upon others. Sometimes it is the pure fear of unbridled choice and responsibility that has us trying to rein ourselves in. When we recognize the fear inherent in these experiences, we can realize the price of breaking the spirit and the freedom and joy were losing out on supporting in one another.
