Conversation that just happened. (in response to my blog 10 Things Christians needs to know about the Occupy Wall Street Movement): M.P., I just dont like the merging of faith and politics. Gods holy nation is the church, not America. Politicians have twisted Gods holy word to fit their agendas from the beginning when it has nothing to do with them. Its all about God working to redeem those who would deny themselves, carry their cross and follow after Him. --- Me: M.P, While Im fully in support of the separation of church/religion and state, there is no way to follow Jesus without politics being involved. There was no separation of faith and politics in Jesus day, or in his life and message. Indeed, the top two subjects that Jesus spoke about were politics (proclaiming the kingdom/empire of God) and economics (money and our relationship to it). Indeed, Jesus started his ministry declaring the Year of Jubilee (look that up if you arent familiar with it. If you arent familiar with it, its because American Christianity tends to minimize it). If Jesus had merely been a wise sage who shared spiritual insights, he would never have been executed. - Roger Wolsey, author, Kissing Fish: christianity for people who dont like christianity
