Cooks from across the 1st Infantry Division took part in a two-week Food Service Refresher Training event May 5-16 at Fort Riley’s Food Service Lab. The training culminated in the End of Course Luncheon May 16 at the lab, featuring guests like Col. Matthew Lewis, commander of the 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, and Brig. Gen. Frank Muth, the 1st Inf. Div. deputy commanding general for support. A dozen Soldiers from the Division Headquarters and Headquarters Brigade, 1st CAB, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team 1st Infantry Division and 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division created a four-course meal as their capstone assignment. The menu included corn chowder, lump crab cakes and a roasted rib eye with bone marrow butter, braised cabbage, carrots and potatoes. For dessert, a molten chocolate lava cake with strawberry ice cream was served.
