Cool World rewards customers with N3.6m The management of Cool World Electric Retail Store has rewarded three of its customers with educational grants worth N3.6m in educational grants. The customers got the grants in the Back2School promo of the PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc’s subsidiary. In August three customers had received grants amounting to N1.8m and a statement by the firm on Thursday said three more customers, Njemanze Chinyere, Saleh Fati and Osayi Obayuwani, have won an additional N1.8m bringing the total grants to N3.6m. Following a raffle draw at the company’s head office in Lagos, Chinyere won the top prize of N1m, while Fati and Obayuwani won N500, 000 and N300, 000 respectively. Cool World said promo was meant to reward customers, who purchased up to N50,000 worth of Haier Thermocool home and office appliances. A Retail Sales Manager at Cool World, Florence Ehirim, said beyond rewarding customers, the promo was meant to promote education and easy the huge financial burden that parents bear in educating their children. “The Back2School promotion was timed to coincide with the beginning of new academic session and it was designed to give back to our customers,” she said, stressing that it was not a one-off initiative. She explained that the joy of the winners when they were informed of their win gave the company a sense of fulfillment. To ensure that the grant was used for the right purpose, she said after being informed of their win, the winners were directed to UBA Trustees, which would administer the grant. The Head, Private Trust, UBA Trustees, Motunrayo Ade- Famoti, said, “Because it is an educational fund, it cannot be monetised. We have to ensure that it is used for educational purpose. We will pay to the institution for the course of your choice. However, if a winner is reluctant to take a course or is done with education, the scholarship can be transferred to a family member or friend still for an educational purpose.” A Senior Executive Officer, Legal, Lagos State Lotteries Board, Ms. Mayowa Okuyiga, who witnessed the raffle draw said she was satisfied with the promo. She, however, said the Board would follow up to ensure that the winners were duly identified and that the grant was used for the right purpose.
