Cool full-length Documentary about the artist Haze XXL and his record label, Amphetamine Reptile Records! CoDirected by Eric Robel, the son of our own Dave Robel, Lincoln drummer extraordinaire. No local screenings coming that I know of, but Dave was telling me about seeing a recent screening where a lot of the artists inteviewed were in attendance. The Color of Noise by Eric Robel and Michael Dimmitt. Chronicling the rise of legendary noise-rock/alternative label Amphetamine Reptile, The Color of Noise is the story of founder/madman Tom Hazelmeyer and the bands that be helped shepherd in the 80s/90s. Those bands, with names like Helmet, Melvins, Hammerhead, Cows, Today is the Day and more, helped define a sound for the era, paving the path for a whole new genre of music and influencing millions in the process.
