Copied and pasted from Dog Todays Mag and it shows what can really happen so if anyone knows where these dogs are, please contact Anne via FB (called Missing Spanish Dogs in the UK) or email her at anneleswager@yahoo .... or you could check out Vets to see if any vets know of any of these dogs ..... Anne and her husband had been rescuing, fostering and rehoming dogs in Spain for 10 years and often went out of their way to help the most desperate cases. When Anne saw photos of a pregnant little terrier at Helin Perrera (known as the notorious Hellin Killing Station), she knew she had to do something. We drove straight to the pound and brought her home and she gave birth here in safety a week later; I sat with her, stroking her tummy as she gave birth to each of her babies recalls Anne. I thought this would be enough to protect them from ever knowing the pain and suffering she had known. Among the litter were Rufus and Luna, and when they were four months old, they were ready to go to new homes in Glasgow in June 2013. Annes plan was to have both puppies transported together to the home of *Jackie* who was to have Rufus, and Lunas new family would collect her from there. Unfortunately, her adoption fell through, so *Jackie* offered to keep both puppies until Anne could place Luna elsewhere. I found an alternative foster home within a week but by that time, *Jackie* said her family had fallen in love with her said Anne I saw so many photos of the pups curled up on the kiddies knees on the sofa and running in green fields ... I made the wrong decision and let them keep her too Anne had become aware that *Jackie* had recently adopted two other puppies called Pia and Ora from two other different Spanish rescues but she was still willing to work with her. I am extremely careful about rehoming and say no to more people than I say yes said Anne Ora and Rufus were tiny, Pia was not big either, so in a big five bedroomed house with a garden and her being home all the time, I felt it was ok -but hindsight is a wonderful thing Not all was as it seemed. Being a responsible rescuer, Anne kept in touch with *Jackie* online over the next year but suspicions about the dogs whereabouts were raised when *Jackie* began to act strangely and then severed contact. DETECTIVE WORK: Anne did some digging and discovered that *Jackie* had lied about her address and had been evicted from the house that had been home-checked by Pias rescue.*Jackie* had also surrended another dog called Azura to the SSPCA, at which point it was reported that there were no other dogs in her care. It became clear that the four Spanish rescue dogs, including Rufus and Luna, had disappeared as early as October 2013. Unfortunately, this is where the story ends. Anne and her fellow dog rescuers have faced an agonising few months and they continue to search for the truth about what happened to the dogs they sought to protect. The outlook does not look good; it has ben discovered that *Jackies* cousin was imprisoned for animal abuse and there have been some reports from neighbours that Azura (the dog surrended to the SSPCA) was poorly treated, often being left outside to howl for days on end. If anyone has adopted one of these dogs, please I beg you to come forward implores Anne. We do not want to take a dog away from a good home; we simply need to know they are alive, safe and well __________________
