Cops and Kids Day postponed Due to the possibility of thunderstorms forecast for Saturday the Millbrook Police Department regretfully announced that the Cops and Kids event that was planned from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Village Green Park, has been postponed. The event has been tentatively rescheduled for Saturday, June 14th. “We really were looking forward to hosting our 5th Annual Cops and Kids Day,” Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson said. “A lot of hard work and effort went into preparations for this event. We were unable to have the event last year because we were in the process of transitioning into the new Judicial Complex, so we were really looking forward to having a great day of fun, food and activities with the young people in our community. This event has been a great opportunity for public safety officials to interact and foster positive relationships with the children in our community. We have members of our staff that enjoy this event every bit as much as the kids that attend, so we are a little disappointed. The good news is that we have all the resources in place, so it’s just a matter of making sure our tentative date is good for all our sponsors and volunteers. It’s actually better to postpone the event rather than risk having it rained out. I want to thank our staff for all their hard work, our local businesses for their generous sponsorship, and our volunteers for being available to assist. Please know your efforts have not been wasted. We look forward to hosting Cops and Kids on June 14th and encourage the parents in our community to bring your kids out to have a great time, while getting to know the police officers and fire fighters that serve our City.”
