Cops create diversions to ease traffic at peak hours: Sinhagad residents will get soon get relief from traffic jams at Santosh Hall Chowk. The Pune traffic police have prepared a rotary traffic scheme at Santosh Hall junction, which will directly benefit over 15,000 citizens in Anandnagar area. File Pic According to the rotary traffic scheme, vehicles coming from Dandekar Bridge won’t be allowed to take a right turn during peak hours at Santosh Hall Chowk to go towards Sun City road. They would have to travel further towards Brahma Garden corner to proceed to their destination. These changes will be implemented from 10.30 am to 11.30 am and 6.30 pm to 8 pm. Assistant Police Inspector YG Nikam from Dattawadi traffic division is responsible for this scheme. “We have also briefed the Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishwas Pandhare and a local corporator about this traffic plan. We intend to implement the plan on an experimental basis within 15 days,” said Nikam. “The rotary traffic plan would cause inconvenience to a few citizens staying near Santosh Hall Chowk. However, it would serve a larger public interest and hence it is needed. We would also ask PMPML authorities to ply mini-buses on these routes as the internal roads leading to Sun City townships are narrow. According to our estimate, this traffic change would benefit over 15,000 citizens in Anandnagar area,” said Nikam. Local corporator Manjusha Deepak Nagpure said, “We are aware of the plan prepared by traffic police. We will support it if it benefits thousands of citizens in our area.
