Corporal GUSS - A Military Jeep On AutoPilot. A technology straight out of the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab. Heres yet another example of how modern technology enables vehicles to drive themselves. GUSS - or Ground Unmanned Support Surrogate - works using sensors that enable the unit to be operated with or without a driver. The Marines create and test many technologies like this, to be used in field applications during the Advanced Warfighting Experiment, for the purpose of reviewing them for war fighting concepts and the future of combat. Technology that stops putting people at risk is obviously vitally important, and the development of other replacement techniques to remove the risk of casualties in war is ongoing.
