Could other factors have played a role in the results of this survey? As we know, most sets of twins consist of two people whose personalities are quite different. So, which twin was the gum given to? The twin with the dryer of the two personalities, or the more laid back of the two? I totally agree that when I am chewing gum, I am more relaxed, more confident and less concerned about what impression I am giving when interacting with others. Especially in the work environment I formally occupied, which was retail. Once I was waiting on a customer while chewing gum. The customer asked sarcastically, Is that gum good? I smiled and nodded and kept chewing. Typically my personality would have been to apologize and spit it out. I feel sure the gum itself gave me a bit of an attitude.
