Councillor Elsie Butler Reports; Doncaster supports ‘The Big Scoop’ on 14th June Keep Britain Tidy and the Dogs Trust have teamed up on a campaign to remind every dog owner that when it comes to dog mess they need to bag it and bin it. The campaign will culminate in ‘The Big Scoop’ on 14th June which will be supported by Doncaster Council with a series of events across the borough, where area teams will be chatting to dog owners and giving away dog bags. Councillor Christine Mills, Cabinet Member for Environment and Waste said; “Although the vast majority of dog owners are responsible and pick up after their pets, a small minority unfortunately refuse to do the right thing. “Doncaster Council is backing the Big Scoop in the hopes of encouraging local dog owners to pick up after their pets every time they answer a call of nature and to ensure they also bin the bagged waste afterwards.” Council officers have the powers to issue an on the spot fixed penalty notice to anyone caught failing to clean up after their dog, including anyone who bags but does not bin dog foul. If you want to let the council know about any dog fouling within your community that you believe requires attention please complete an online report at doncaster.gov.uk/dogfoul or call 01302 736000. Anyone with a smartphone can also report issues through the free My Doncaster app which can be downloaded from iTunes or the Android Market.
