County’s job fair set for March 28 Dozens of employers will be hiring for permanent and seasonal employment By Shawn P. Sullivan Sanford News Editor Thursday, March 13, 2014 SPRINGVALE — Looking for a job? On March 28, there will be more than 50 employers who very well may be looking for you. Mark your calendar — the York County Regional Job Fair will be held at the Nasson Community Center at 457 Main Street on Friday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. At the event, dozens of employers from throughout the region will be recruiting for open positions. Maine Commissioner of Labor Jeanne Paquette will provide opening remarks at the event. “Job fairs highlight the different companies and jobs available in your area,” Paquette said. “They’re great opportunities for people at different stages in their careers to talk to many businesses and get excited about the possibilities that a new job or career can open up for them.” The fair is a partnership among the Sanford-Springvale Chamber of Commerce, the CareerCenter in Springvale, York County Community College, Goodwill Workforce Solutions, The Maine Military and Community Network and the Sanford Regional Technical Center (SRTC). Rick Stanley, the president of the local chamber of commerce, said the state’s labor department’s statistics show that as many as 150 people have found employment by participating in the annual fair during the past three years. “It has become a valuable asset to the community, year in and year out,” Stanley said. “It’s a pretty exciting day.” Attendees should bring a resume and be prepared to have an “interview-like” conversation with employers to discuss skills, knowledge areas, and abilities. Job seekers should also be dressed for an interview. To date, the following employers are registered to attend the fair — Adecco, All Med Staffing of New England, Anchorage Inn, AVX Tantalum, At Work Personnel Services, Bonney Staffing, Casco Bay Molding, Cianbro, Community Partners, Coworx, Creative Work Systems, Express Employment Professionals, Fiber Materials, Graham Behavioral Services, Great Falls Marketing, H D R, Inc., H & R Block, Hannaford Supermarket (Wells), Hannaford Supermarket (York), Home Care for Maine, Home Depot, Home Instead, Hospice of Southern Maine, Hussey Seating, Job Placement Services, Lakeview Neuro Rehabilitation Center, Leddy Group, Maine Army National Guard, Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry, Maine Department of Health & Human Services, Marden’s, Manpower, MAS Home Care, Metrocast Cablevision, NAMI Maine, Nestle Waters/Poland Spring, New York Life Insurance Company, Oceanside Rubbish, Pike Industries, Portland Police Department, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Pratt & Whitney, Providence Services, Support Solutions, Sweetser, Tom’s of Maine, U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, Waban Projects, York County CareerCenter and the York County Sheriff’s Department.
