Coup détat at NPP headquarters Security personnel at the New Patriotic Party(NPP) headquarters yesterday clashed with security personnel from Margos Security Company when the Margos men attempted to dislodge the first group from their post and take over. The scuffle between the two security outfits led to the smashing of the main slide door to the reception, which injured a visitor who had come to the party headquarters to transact business. Chief Superintendent Nuhu Jango, the Nima Divisional Police Commander, who spoke to the press on the party premises said the Nima Police had a call from the NPP headquarters that there was a breach of public order there as two security outfits were engaged in a scuffle for the control of the main gate of the party’s headquarters. He said when the police arrived at the scene, the security personnel who had come to take over from those at the headquarters had left the premises. He said since the police immediately could not differentiate between who were the security and staff at the headquarters, they asked all staff at the headquarters to stay away from the headquarters, while investigations were conducted into the clashes between the two security outfits. Chief Superintendent Jango, however, said the police would still station a skeleton personnel there to monitor the situation to ensure that complete peace and order was restored. Mr Kwabena Abankwa-Yeboah, the National Treasurer of the party, who arrived at the headquarters yesterday morning to attend a Steering Committee meeting, expressed surprise since, according to him, no decision had been taken at the Steering Committee level to change the security at the party headquarters. Mr Abankwa-Yeboah said the Steering Committee would conduct its own investigation into the matter. - .
