Headstone for old Abraham Braun 1743 in Rowan County, NC ******************************************************************************** 5. ABRAHAM BRAUN3 SR. (JOHANN STEPHAN CHRISTIAN2 BRAUN, JOHANN JACOB1) was born 08 Mar 1742/43 in East Cocalico Township, Lancaster Co., Pa., and died 10 Jan 1798 in Rowan Co., NC. He married MARY HARDEMON 27 Jan 1769 in Rowan Co., NC, daughter of HERMAN HARDEMON. She was born Unknown, and died 27 May 1804 in Rowan Co., NC. Notes for ABRAHAM BRAUN SR.: Abraham Brown was well known as the Miller. His house, spring, blacksmith shop and grist mill were located behind what is now know as Dan Nicholas Park off Bringle Ferry Road on Persimmon Branch. (N 3538.470 W 08020.829) Abraham operated this mill till his death. Abraham is buried at Union Lutheran Church, Rowan Co., NC (N 3538.634 W 08023.628) His son, Jacob, Sr. operated the mill till his death. Probably did not serve in militia due to his age. He served in Patriot Service In NC during the Revolutionary War. Patriot Service means a collector of provisions, Defender of a fort, Delegate to the continental congress or to a provincial congress, express rider, fence viewer, furnishing as a substitute, gunsmith giving services, member of the Boston tea party, minister making patriot sermons, ect. Info received about Patriot service from Robert Webster, Washington State. He did research at Puget Sound Genealogical Society. Info from DAR. Children of ABRAHAM SR. and MARY HARDEMON are: i. Jacob Brown Sr., b. 1775; d. 13 Dec 1843, Rowan Co., NC. 21. iv. Henry Brown, b. 1781; d. 1829, Rowan Co., NC. 22. v.
