Courtesy of Thirst For Knowledge! After a long absence the Plainfield Basketball Lady Cardinals (6-4) have returned to the Courier News Girls Basketball Top 10. The PHS Lady Cardinals will play at home tonight vs. the Union Farmers (9-1) at 5:30 p.m. Plainfield (6-4) enters the game ranked #5 in the Star Ledger Union County Top 10. Union enters the game ranked #10 in the Star Ledger Group IV Top 10 & #3 in the Star Ledger Union County Top 10. On opening night December 20, 2013 the Union Farmers defeated the Plainfield Cardinals 41-25 in Union. The Cardinals have already surpassed last season (2012-13) win total (5-22). The Cardinals are led by seniors Drew Winter (1,365) and Breane Spencer (1,298) who are currently ranked number 1st & 3rd on the Lady Cards 1,000 point career scoring list. Marcia Foster (1976-80) 1,313 is 2nd on the 1,000 scoring list. Marcia held the scoring record for 34 years! The Lady Cardinals are coached by John McNulty (6-4) in his first season in Plainfield.
