Crazy Claim Day: A day at the beach turned out to be a nightmare for a New Brighton woman when a city Parks Department vehicle hit her as she sunbathed. The 36 year old female survived the harrowing incident at a Beach on last year’s Memorial Day weekend. The claimant was lying on the beach sunbathing when she felt pressure on her head. That “pressure” turned out to be the front end of a 2004 Ford suburban, which had struck her. It was not immediately clear why the vehicle, owned by Parks Department, was on even on the beach as that is not allowed. The claimant was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital where she received four medical staples to close a head wound. She also was treated for neck, back and shoulder injuries and subsequently underwent left shoulder surgery. Earlier last year, she sued the city but, a settlement was reached before the case could proceed to trial for damages. The claimant received a settlement of $300.000.00. Source: ClaimCrazy
