Crazy drive home today from San Leandro. Normally takes 2 hours but today it took 3.5 hours. First, traffic was stopped going eastbound thru the Caldecott Tunnel due to an accident so I detoured thru Oakland to Highway 80. The on-ramp there was under at least a foot of water. Apparently, a truck lost a load of cement mix. The poring rain and cement mix combined; turned to cement in all of the drains so Cal Trans was being called out to jackhammer the drains. Good thing I have 4 wheel drive because there was quite a pile up of vehicles that I had to maneuver around; some had hit that water at full speed, spun out and hit the wall. Others, hit the vehicle in front of them that stopped because of the water and some were just stuck; inoperable because their motor died because their tail pipe was completely submerged! PHEW...glad to finally be home!!
