Creating connections through real food. We had the pleasure of helping our friends process and pack a whole cow yesterday. Open air butchery with 8 kids involved. Learning the anatomy of a cow. Counting and packing. Spelling and labelling. Getting a real life experience of where our meat comes from. Learning an appreciation and respect for an animal that has been raised on clean open pastures. No stressful transporting or handling. Straight from paddock to freezer. We need to endeavour to provide these experiences to our children and ourselves to reclaim the realness of food and living. We have sadly lost these practices and experience for a large part of our population. Its time to reclaim our traditional ways.
