Creative people usually have some kind of wiring a little messed up in the brain box. Its the only way we get lots of stuff done and think our crazy ideas are even remotely possible. Likewise its not unusual for us to think up creative and spectacular ways to exit this existence if everything gets too much. I know in my heart I will never let the black dog take me, but for those battling severe depression, the rational decision making process is replaced with constant thoughts of hopelessness. It does not matter how much love, attention, money or success you have if your brain just wants to find the exit. The more we share the more we can help each other. I have battled mania without medication and periods of suicidal thoughts during my life and If I had shared my feelings sooner those periods probably would have been shorter. A sense of hopelessness and a need for escape can find all of us at some stage. Be good to each other and be open with your friends and family, someone you may be very close to could be fighting off that vicious black dog every single day. x
