Creigh Deeds, a former Democratic nominee for governor of Virginia, is in critical condition at a Virginia Hospital this morning after an assault at his home where another person was found dead, state police said. Deeds, 55, serves in the Virginia Senate and ran for governor in 2009. He lives in Bath County, Va. Virginia State Police confirmed that Deeds was airlifted from his home to the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville at 7:25 a.m. this morning after sustaining serious injuries. An investigation is ongoing.
