Crime update Do see below an email from our Sergeant re an incident at the NatWest on Hampstead High Street in December. Do also see an email below from a member of the community which was circulated about a Belsize resident on 5 January. Do be vigilant. Subject: Natwest Bank Hampstead High Street Jessica, On 17 December, 2014, an Asian looking male has attempted to distract a lady at the Natwest Cash point machine. (MO) At approximately 1745hrs The suspect approached the lady and put his arms over her shoulders just as she was checking her balance. He then said to her You were doing it wrong The lady screamed and the suspect ran off towards the tube station. Male described as Asian approximately 40yrs old large build, round face described as being taller than usual. Wearing a dark coloured overcoat described as being old and scruffy looking. Please can you let people know and tell them to be vigilant in case he strikes again. Kind regards Martin. Subject: ATTEMPTED BAG SNATCHING JUST 2 HOURS AGO NEAR EVERYMAN CINEMA Hi all A Belsize Park area resident, had an attempted bag snatching. A man followed her out of the Everyman Cinema (used to be Screen on the Hill) and walked behind her down Glenmore road. As she went to put her key in her door, a man tried to snatch her bag. Description: either South Asian or middle eastern. Not much more. She shouted for help but no help from neighbours. Fortunately he did not get her bag. Police came quickly. They believe he might still be in neighbourhood and are looking for him. Did anyone see or hear this incident? If so notify the police on 101. Thanks
