Crisis-hit Russians cancel Mt.Uludağ reservations Economic crisis in Russia has caused to have 50% tourist reservation cancellation in one of Turkey’s winter resort destination of Mt Uludağ. Russian tourists, who had been flocking to Mt. Uludağ during first day of the New Year, this year has continuing to cancel their reservation arising from economic crisis which was triggered by the sudden fall of oil prices and ongoing Ukrainian crisis. Meanwhile, the much-awaited snowfall has come to Uludağ and brought joy among holidaymakers and hoteliers. In- depth of snow has reached 28 centimeters on the peak of the mount but according to the meteorological forecast that there would be no snowfall until the weekend around the ski resort. Despite the reservation cancellation, occupancy rate in the hotel has reached 100% across the Mt. Uludağ. Tourism experts said a considerable part of foreign tourists are from Azerbaijan and Arabian countries. PINARCI: RUSSIAN TOURIST RATE FALLS AROUND 50% In his evaluation the tourist occupancy rate in the hotels, Ağaoğlu Hotel General Director Murat Pınarcı said they has opened the hotel on December 18 since then the hotels are full. As for the New Year, we filled our hotel. “Due to the economic reasons the number of Russian tourist who visits Uludağ is rare,” said Pınarcı. Continuing his evaluation Pınarsı said sharp decline of Russian tourist rate has reached 50%. “Arising from the economic crisis in Russia, there is no much more Russian tourist. “ This year, Azeri tourists are showing great deal of interest to Uludağ. At the same time Arabian tourist rate is getting intense also and as always Turkish tourist is flocking to the Mt. Uludağ,” noted Panarcı. Bülent Erdoğan Champion Ski Facility Owner said the rate of Arabian tourist is very high this year.
