Crisp County Sheriff Billy Hancock, along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, announces the arrest of two individuals involved in the murder investigation of Jasperin Armstrong. On Friday, September 12, 2014, the body of Armstrong was discovered on Ferry Landing Road in Crisp County, Georgia. The cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound. Deputies from the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office and Agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation have worked tirelessly since that time. On September 16, 2014, warrants were secured for Rocquel Quinton Chavers, 31 years old, of 1111 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, Bainbridge, Georgia. Chavers was apprehended with the assistance of Bainbridge Public Safety Department and Decatur County Sheriff’s Office. Chavers is charged with Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. On September 17, 2014, Rontavious Domonic Towns, 21 years old, of 103 Lake Park Drive, Cordele, Georgia was questioned. Towns faces charges of Murder, Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault. The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate Armstrong’s death, as well as the death of Ashley Garry reported on Sunday, September 7, 2014.
