Critical Incident investigation launched following pursuit - Marrickville LAC Sunday, 21 July 2013 07:47:21 AM A critical incident investigation has been launched following the death of a 36-year-old man in Sydney’s south-west overnight. About 11.30pm yesterday (Saturday 20 July 2013), a vehicle passed a police car on Addison Road at Marrickville. It is understood the Subaru Liberty was travelling in a dangerous manner, at excessive speeds. Police activated the warning lights on their vehicle. Officers followed the vehicle for a short time, before the driver allegedly drove through a red light signal at an intersection, at which point police terminated the pursuit. The vehicle continued along Victoria Road, before leaving the roadway and colliding with a tree. The 36-year-old man died at the scene. A crime scene was established and officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit attended. A critical incident team from Camden Local Area Command will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident. All information will be provided to the Coroner, who will determine the cause of death and make any findings about the events leading to the man’s death. The road was closed to allow inquiries to be carried out at the scene and diversions remain in place. No further details are available at this time.
