Critical Information Read Psalm 119:97-106 Encouragement for the day – “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105 KJV We live in an information driven world. Today’s firefighters are taught about the importance of situational awareness on the emergency scene. In order to maintain situational awareness firefighters need accurate and up to date information about that emergency scene. Recently, agencies began using critical information dispatch systems where information is steadily given to those on the scene and information is available upon request. The fireground is a rapidly changing emergency where misinformation or no information can lead to poor decisions and firefighter injury or death. As information is received through these new communication systems company officers and fireground commanders can constantly receive that information and it will aid them in making the right decisions. Christian firefighters also have the ability to receive critical information. This information is not from a dispatch center but from God Himself. The Bible is a collection of 66 books that were inspired by the very breath of God and is still relevant to today’s firefighters. The Bible explains to its readers how to live a life that is pleasing to God and it will help you to make wise decisions in life. Unfortunately, most firefighters today choose not to daily read and study their Bibles. That is equivalent to taking your portable radio into a fire and never turning it on and using it. If you haven’t read your Bible lately I would encourage you to take it out and begin to read it every day. If you don’t know where to start, check out the book of John in the New Testament. Within those pages you will discover just how much God loves you. Lord, thank You for the Bible which contains everything I need to know about living a Godly life.
