Crossroads Christian School (CCS) students gathered together Wednesday morning (9/24) for the global prayer event, “See You at the Pole.” Surrounding the flagpole outside the First Baptist Church of Tyrone, the students prayed for the nation, U.S. military, government leaders and local missionaries. The throng of students, pre-K through eighth grade, celebrated freedom of religion alongside their teachers and invited guests, including Tyrone Mayor Eric Dial, Sheriff Barry Babb, Police Chief Brandon Perkins and Probate Judge Robert Ruppenthal. Promotion coordinator for “See You at the Pole,” Doug Clark, said the event began in 1990 by a group of students in Texas who wanted to pray for their schools. A year later, the idea had spread simply by word-of-mouth. The event now occurs on the fourth Wednesday of September each year across the globe. Clark said he received reports Wednesday via the SYATP website from people praying in Turkey, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic and South Korea, to name a few.
