Cruise Ship Amsterdam To Visit Yap The Yap Visitors Bureau (YVB) has issued a statement informing the general public of the arrival of a cruise ship on Friday, November 8, 2013 during the early part of the day, and will depart at 3:00PM in the afternoon. On the same note, YVB has been coordinating for cultural activities such as local dances and handicrafts sale to be at the Yap Living History Museum on the arrival date. Transport companies have also been advised to have their transport vehicles ready at the dock gates in case the guests arriving onboard the cruise ship would require their service. Local artists are also welcome to sell their handicrafts and arts at the museum on that day. YVB also requested the local hotels, dive shops and other tour operators in Yap to take part by bringing their brochures, flyers and other information to the YVB Booth, which will be outside the museum grounds to be displayed and given out to the guests. The MS Amsterdam is one of two flagships of Holland America Line (HAL). She is about 780 ft long by 105 ft wide with a gross tonnage of over 60,000, and boasts a passenger capacity of 1,380 and a multi-million dollar art collection, including a giant astrolabe centerpiece in the three-storey atrium. Her visit to Yap is part of HALs Grand Voyages tour; her next scheduled visit to Yap will be in February 24, 2014 as part of her Grand World Voyage tour.
