Cullercoats United 5-5 Redhouse Farm Storm. Ben 5, 16 Dan 40 Sam 46 Aaron 50 United threw away their 100% league record when they blew a 3 goal lead with 20 minutes remaining against Redhouse farm. United started brightly, dominated from the off and took a deserved early lead when ben jinked his way inside from the left and clipped an excellent finish over the keeper. The visitors soon equalised when the referee ordered a throw in to be retaken our defence switched off in confusion and a visiting forward turned home a rebound after the original shot hit the bar. Aidan made a fantastic save soon after as the visitors almost scored their second goal with a rare attack. Ben gave us a 2-1 lead with a fantastic effort from the edge of the box which crashed in off the bar but once again we switched off, conceded a silly free kick and failed to mark at the back post as the visitors scored their second goal. Just 30 seconds later we were awarded a free kick of our own and Aaron floated an excellent ball forward which was glanced home by Dan to give us a 3-2 lead at half time. 2nd Half we dominated again from the start and Sam crashed in his 2nd of the season before a fine move involving Jason and Alex resulted in a neat finish by Aaron at the back post to make it 5-2. At this point we took our foot off the pedal and despite being the better team by far we allowed the visitors to score from another long ball. We still looked comfortable at 5-3 but conceded another soft goal with 10 minutes on the clock as we yet again switched off defensively. This is when panic stations set in as we lost our shape, concentration and kept giving the ball away in silly areas. With just 3 minutes left the visitors capped a fine comeback when we conceded another silly free kick from 30 yards and another floated ball into the top corner gave Aidan no chance. We had a couple of chances to win it at the death but couldnt find the killer touch in the closing stages. Lots of lessons learned for the lads today, you cannot switch off defensively, Redhouse farm had 6 attacks today and scored 5 goals, largely coming from us not concentration from free kicks. With the bigger goals even the weaker teams can score from 30/35 yards so we need to stop giving away silly fouls and time our tackles better. Hopefully this is a wake up call for the rest of the season as even though we will remain top of the league, this is two points lost that we cannot afford to throw away. Aidan 6, Lewis 6, Jason 6, David 7, Alex 7, Reece 6, Aaron 7, Sam 6, Dan 7, Ben 8 (mom), Marcus 6, Jake 5, Ollie 5
